REVIEW: The Killer's original album for Sun Records is a curious mixture, as Sam Phillips pulled songs from all avenues of Jerry Lee's repertoire, everything from handkerchief weepers like "It All Depends," "Fools Like Me," and a staid "Goodnight Irene" to rockers like "Put Me Down," "Matchbox," "Ubangi Stomp," "Don't Be Cruel," and "High School Confidential." But Jerry Lee even rocks up stuff like Hank Williams' "Jambalaya" and "When the Saints Go Marching In," making this one terrific debut, even if a great deal of his best material was inexplicably left off. -Allmusic.com

RARE U.S. MONO PRESSING WITH YELLOW/BROWN SUN LABELS. VINYL IN SUPERIOR SHAPE.

MONO pressings of LPs are sometimes more than just STEREO LPs compressed into one channel. In many instances, different effects, different recording levels, alternate tracks, or different arrangements were used, as well as different mixes, to produce a wholly unique sound. As the MONO LP faded out of existence in the late 60s and early 70s, they became quite scarce quite quickly, and therefore are highly collectible today.

There is a small bar code sticker on the INSIDE on the jacket (see 3rd photo). Probably removable, but I did not want to attempt it, lest the cover be damaged, as it is in otherwise great condition. There is also a small stamped "URBAN, R.B." in the top right corner on the back (see 2nd photo). It sort of adds to the charm of this debut LP of genre-hopping tunes from a true rock legend.
