JERRY COLE & HIS SPACEMEN OUTER LIMITS CAPITOL - ST-2044 STEREO - 1963 1ST PRESSING  1ST PRESS 1ST STAMPERS FOR BEST SOUND ORIGINAL ISSUE NOT A RE-RELEASE! COMES WITH RARE HYPE STICKER ADVERTISING OUTER LIMITS ATTACHED TO BACK OF COVER
Jerry Cole was a first-call session guitarist in the 1960s who played on a number of Phil Spector's epochal sides and led the pit bands for the rock & roll-oriented TV shows Shindig and Hullabaloo. When he wasn't busy with all that, he cut a number of instrumental rock albums under a variety of assumed names, but Outer Limits features Cole and his band working under his own shingle for a change. Outer Limits is a no-fuss collection of 11 surf-influenced tunes, many of them covers of popular hits of the day, and while Cole's style couldn't be called "revolutionary," there's a lot more muscle in the performances of "Pipeline" and "Wipeout" than on the originals. Cole's discreet use of fuzz and the full-bodied tone he could conjure from his gear give his performances a sound that stands out from others of his ilk, and his originals are strong if basic stuff. Outer Limits is good fun, and anyone who digs classic surf and instrumental sides will get hip to this.

THIS IS A  FIRST EDITION CAPITOL 1963 VINYL. THE VINYL IS VG+ - SHOWS SOME THIN AND ONE LONG HAIR LINE ON VERY SHINY HEAVY DEEP GROOVE WAX. ONE MAIN FELT SCRATCH GOES OVER THE LAST TRACK ON SIDE 2 AND PLAYS WITH A CLICK EVERY REVOLUTION OTHERWISE THIS LP PLAYS WITH FULL DYNAMICS AND ONLY SMALL SURFACE NOISE MAINLY BETWEEN TRACKS AND NEEDLE DROP - PLAY LOUD! , THIS IS A NICE COPY

THE SLEEVE IS IN A VG++ CONDITION WITH LIGHT AGE WEAR -  BOTTOM 1" SPLIT BY OPENING- NO LABELS NO WRITING - SHOWS LIGHT RING WEAR- HAS LIGHT BUMPING TO CORNERS ON HEAVY US CARDBOARD - HAS NO PUNCH HOLE NO SLITS   (SEE PHOTO)    THE SPINE IS IN VG++  CONDITION WITH LIGHT EDGE BUMPING DELIVERED IN A WHITE INNER SLEEVE PLUS ORIGINAL CAPITOL INNER

LABELS ARE BRIGHT WITH NO MEANINGFUL SPINDLE WEAR AND AN INITIAL ON ONE SIDE

FINALLY ONE LAST WORD RE HAIRLINES, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANY NON SEALED RECORD WITHOUT THEM, MANY HAD THEM FROM NEW. MOSTLY THEY ARE A RESULT OF STORAGE AND USE AND USUALLY HAVE LITTLE IMPACT ON THE SOUND QUALITY. THE SAME GOES FOR BACKGROUND NOISE, UNFORTUNATELY ALL RECORDS WILL HAVE SOME AND THIS VARIES AND REFLECTS THE PRESSING QUALITY.

Most records have production marks where someone touched or moved the vinyl while it was still semi-soft.  These marks look like smudges, but are not scratches or "paper scuffs" and do not usually sound.  Untouched vinyl from newly-opened records have these marks.

 RECOMMENDED!

FULLY GUARANTEED!

IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded.

Records are graded under bright lights or discrete sunlight - In the case of visibly possible harmful scratches, the record will be tested and sound quality noted. Many vintage (1955-70) records will play fine with visible damage due to superior vinyl and better pressings.

How I Grade Condition Of Discs

Mint

This means I have owned it from new or purchased from a distributors warehouse, basically it means absolutely new shape, never been played or out of its dust cover. In the case of LP's, a North American album will have to be factory sealed (anyone can reseal an album!) Take Note: European and Japaneses albums were never shrink wrapped!

Note: Being mint does not guarantee it's free of pops and clicks, many pressings especially from the US were made with very poor vinyl and in a hurry which means often there are imperfections in the pressing. As a former importer, we were often given back brand new albums due to clicks heard in the playback.

Mint Minus - No such thing, it's either mint or not.

Excellent - A disc is super clean, with no visible marks

Excellent Plus, means it's probably mint but can't be proven by me.

Excellent minus, is a disc that is excellent except it may have some markings that do not show up in the playing

VG - A disc that is STILL in good shape, WILL have some scuffs or scratches, not in excellent shape but well worth owning. VG + and ++,a disc that is that much better than VG.

VG minus, just a smidgen below VG
