The BIG ONE: ULTRA RARE 12 Track ORIGINAL PRESSING  Of Jefferson Airplane Takes Off. This is the MONO 1st Press featuring Side 1, Track 6, "Runnin 'Round This World" AND the Original Uncensored Versions of "Let Me In" & "Run Around"!!

 This first pressing of the album, of which few copies were manufactured, differed from later ones. The track "Runnin' 'Round This World" contained here, was deleted from subsequent pressings because the line "The nights I've spent with you have been fantastic trips" was deemed objectionable as referring to sex and drugs. Also, this first pressing contains the original recordings of "Let Me In" and "Run Around," both of which were subsequently re-recorded to tone down lyrics deemed too suggestive for release.

Vinyl is G+(I could probably get away with grading it VG- but prefer to be conservative), Playback gets a bit crackly at times but the LP is certainly listenable. "Runnin' 'Round This World" has a tic at the end which is typical of other tics that occur here & there on the album (I have included samples below of the 3 rare tracks including one of the tic at the end of "Runnin'"). While the vinyl does retain some of its original luster, it has quite a bit of surface marring. The labels are in good shape with some fingerprints & a few spindle marks.

Matrix Numbers are TPRM-0171(0172)--2S

Sleeve is VG-, There is ring wear to the front & back cover, edge wear includes a split along the center of the bottom edge (about 4"), a slight split at the bottom opening edge corner and the cover slick is missing from nearly the entire top edge though it holds together except for an opening edge corner split. The title & DYNAGROOVE are legible on the spine, the area with the catalog # is worn away. There is a peeled away spot on the center of the front cover below the word AIRPLANE, this area has some additional minor bubbling surrounding it. There is shelf wear & some staining to the front & back covers. There is a blue sticker on the upper spine side front corner of the cover which I have not attempted to remove. There are some dings along the edges and some small tears along the top edge of the back cover slick.
