JEFFERSON AIRPLANE / SOPWITH "CAMEL" / WEST COAST NATURAL GAS CO.: Levi Strauss Salesman's Record Fall 1967 (#R-6720, 10" LP with cover)

• Condition : Cover is VG++, light wear, few slight creases. This is a thin cover made of heavier paper than a 45RPM type picture sleeve of the era, but not by much (technically, this is very thin cardstock), and it's of similar construction to a pic sleeve, in other words it's more like a thick inner sleeve than a regular LP jacket. Vinyl is VG+ to VG++, this just has some scuffs, mostly plays EX to NM but it has big spaces between the cuts, a big space for the lead in groove, and a vey big area of lead-out groove, as a result every little paper scuff shows up very well as a lot of each side is glossy blank vinyl! Side one label is NM, side two has the word "jeans" and a couple titles starred in blue pen, plus some small stain from an old retail pricetag.
• Description : VERY rare 1967 original 10" LP with 9 tracks in thin cover. These were radio spots advertising Levi's blue jeans. This LP would have been distributed only to persons involved in the Levi's ad campaign as well as radio stations which were airing the actual advertisements. I'm not sure how many copies would have been pressed of this sort of item but apparently few seem to have survived today. We get four tracks each from Jefferson Airplane and The Sopwith "Camel", plus one track from West Coast Natural Gas Co. The ads themselve are really quite psychedelic and kind of nutty- sounds as if they were trying to sell jeans to stoned hippie kids (who I suspect were wearing Levis already). One of the JA ads ("East Indian") cropped up on one of their CD compilations a long time ago so you may have heard that track before.
• NOTE: there were also at least two different one-sided version of this record: one was numbered ETR-6702 and was a one-sided 12" with just the two Airplaine tracks featured on side two here, apparently issued without cover, and another one-sided 12" numbered CRC-6717, that featured only the five tracks that are on side two of this version, and also apparently was issued without a cover. THIS record I am offering for auction is the version with two sides, nine tracks in total, and cover included. I have no idea, however, if there were MORE than three versions of this material (I wouldn't be surprised, for instance, if there was another one-sided press of side one only floating around out there), but this version seems to be the only one with ALL of the tracks in one place. If anybody has definitive information on the various issues of this material, please forward and I will post it here. These Levi's promos almost never come up for sale in any version! Looking on Popsike turned up one copy each of the one-sided versions mentioned above but NO sales for this two-sided version with cover. So it's quite likely that this version has not been offered for auction anywhere in many years.

Ebay's lsting format does not let me break out South America separately from Mexico and Canada for shipping costs so it appears as though I don't ship there, but I do. I ship WORLDWIDE.
• GUARANTEE: Condition of this item is guraranteed to be as stated in the above description. Grading is strict and visual. All used LP's are cleaned on a Loricraft machine before grading. Sorry, I do not guarantee "musical content". If you are going to bid high on an unfamiliar album, consider first checking out the sounds online or via a reissue, etc in order to avoid potential disappointments. You cannot return a record simply because you don't like the music.
• Records are shipped in a cardboard record mailer with sufficient padding, and the disc is removed from the jacket to prevent seamsplits.

• Please do not ask me to email you with a list of every song on an LP. If you are looking for a specific song, inquire with the name of the song, I'll check ASAP to see if it's on the LP and reply promptly, but I don't have time to type out the names of every track, sorry to say. Also, sorry but requests from underbidders along the lines of "I didn't win, could you A) dub the record to CD for me B) ask the high bidder to dub the record to CD for me or C) give me the winner's email so I can ask" are ignored due to legal and privacy concerns.

OVERSEAS: the cheaper shipping option on your invoice (First Class Mail International) does not include insurance or tracking. With FCMI service, Registered Mail (includes tracking number and requires your signature upon delivery) is available for $10.80 extra per parcel; if you want Registered Mail added to your FCMI parcel, ask. The higher price option on your invoice (Priority Mail International) includes a tracking number and, to most countries, around $80 in insurance coverage, as part of the shipping cost. However, Registered Mail service is not available with Priority Mail International service.
