JEFFERSON AIRPLANE, "After Bathing at Baxters" RARE!
Welcome to my auction for a rare, early copy of:
AFTER BATHING AT BAXTER'S
by
JEFFERSON AIRPLANE
This album comes from a superb private collection owned by a serious record collector. This is a RCA black label stereo copy of Jefferson's third album. Musically, a complete departure from the previous Surrealistic Pillow, with a shift towards a harder rock style and acid inspired experimentation. This is an absolutely essential album, capturing the essence of everything that was San Francisco in 1967.
Label: RCA VICTOR (made by Decca from RCA Master recordings)
Cat. No: SF-7926
Year of Original Release: 1967
Year of this issue: ?1968
Country: UKGrading (Vinyl first) EX/EX
Matrices: UPRS-5524-1K Stampers 1 and D UPRS-5525-1K Stampers 1 and D
Sleeve description: The front laminated Robert Stace picture sleeve, with the Ron Cobb design, is in excellent condition. A sticker has been removed from the front cover and there is some creasing at the bottom right corner. The matt back cover, which is extremely difficult to find in a pristine condition, has a little minor ring wear scuffing. The open edge has a little scuffing where the laminate ends. The slim spine is in good shape, with clear, bold text and there is minimal edge wear. The sleeve is not a gatefold.
Inner sleeve: Heavy card inner.
Vinyl description: The vinyl is visually in very good+ condition. There are some light surface marks visible under the inspection light but nothing significantly affecting the audio quality.
Audio description: The audio quality is graded as excellent. There are occasional, light static traces to both sides but nothing overly distracting. One small pop noted on Side 2. The original RCA mastering leaves something to be desired but this album is about the music and the music soars! NO jumps, NO sticks.
Labels: Very good; barely any spindle wear but some faint spidery traces.
