Up for auction is a Jazz LP by Ted Curson, "Plenty of Horn," Old Town Records Jazz Series OT LP 2003, 1961, Mono. White label, blue vinyl.

The lineup for this album is: Ted Curson, trumpet; Jimmy Garrison, bass; Kenny Drew, piano; Bill Barron, tenor sax; Roy Haynes, drums; Eric Dolphy, flute; Danny Richmond, drums; Pete La Roca, drums. (The last three artists are on selected tracks.)

The record is in very good condition. I see a couple of light surface lines, but I had to look hard for them. The labels are good with slight wear around the record hole. The album cover is in very good condition. There are no seam splits or wear on the edges. There is some wear on the corners. The front is in very good condition, but there is a visible line running vertically which I don't think is a scratch. It might be offset from another record. I was able to rub away part of it with my finger. The back has light record wear. If you see some spots towards the right in the picture, they have been gently cleaned off.

NOTE ON PACKING: Records are shipped out of sleeve. Both record and cover are bagged and bubble wrap is put between record cover and record and cardboard before being wrapped in cardboard record mailer. Extra cardboard or bubble wrap is used to protect corners. If you have a postal service that is particularly hard on packages, let me know. Since I ship worldwide, I realize that some packages might need a little extra padding or care.

ADDITIONAL NOTE:  I have had a few questions concerning the sound quality and nature of the marks and whether they would affect play, so I decided to take the time to play the entire record.

Let me start by saying that I have four turntables in the house - 2 for mainly LPs, 1 mainly for 45s, and one exclusively for 78s. I played this record on the LP player with the lighter tone arm first and the record skipped a couple of times, then settled down and played fine. HOWEVER - when I played it on my Toshiba that has a heavier tone arm, it was fine - no skipping or anything. My Toshiba does not have a super heavy weight - it's not like I've taped a nickel to the head or anything. I have inspected the record and see no warping, but for the first 15 seconds of each first track, the record seems to "pull" a little, and it seems to need more than a featherweight arm to play through those first few seconds.

That being said, the rest of the record plays perfectly (as does ALL of it if there is a proper weight on the tone arm). There are no snaps, pops, static, crackle or skips - just great music.
