A brilliant combination of surf music, and comic book style satire. It's quite an entertaining oddity, with Jan and Dean transforming into superheros, obviously akin to Batman and Robin, but they weren't allowed to use the actual characters due to copyright restrictions.

The actual songs on here are absolutely brilliant, with Jan at his peak in production and arrangement abilities. The title track, for instance, is the best original song i've heard about the show. Unfortunately, there aren't many, as the rest of the album is devoted to hilarious satirical skits, with Jan and Dean at their absolute goofiest (especially Dean Torrence, who previously had a knack for comedy). The whole idea is quite an entertaining listen, as Jan and Dean transform into sonic comic book characters and have adventures with Batman-esque villains.

Maybe not exactly an album that will get a lot of listens besides the songs, but is definitely bound to get some laughs and entertainment whenever it IS on. Sadly, shortly after this was released, Jan's career was forever in shambles, as he experienced a near fatal car crash that kept him from even singing a note for years afterwards. It's especially tragic that we'll never know what might have been if that hadn't happened, as Jan was on top of his game and had huge potential for the future.

 (IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions (probably just sleeve scuffs inflicted in storage over the years) ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly  insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(c)           The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings).

(d)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(e)           Stereo  pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its mono  counterpart. The mix is more graphic, the sound resolution more precise, and the channel separation (which does not exist on mono version) adds a whole new dimension to the music. Also, the stereo mixes are (by definition) somewhat different than on the mono version. We estimate that mono copies of this album outnumber stereo copies  by a ratio of at least 10:1.

(f)            Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

-        Cover has a visible wrinkle (crease) in the back panel  (a minor construction flaw -- a wrinkle in the paper slick)

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
