JAMES BROWN LP TRY ME! (King Records 635)

 

   One of the great works of graphic design!! Original cover art with the alluring gun pose! Original US pressing on the silver & black King label with no crown on top of label. ("Long Play" & boxed "33 1/3" at label's bottom). Pressed on a very thick slab of quality vinyl (feels like about 225 grams!). From the front, the cover looks fantastic with no significant blemishes in sight. Incredibly rich & artful color. (Amazing shade of sea foam green!). Sixteen awesome songs by James Brown & the Famous Flames. Monophonic King High Fidelity album. Back cover shows nice pictures of other great King albums of the day, such as Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis & Little Willie John. Album opens with "Try Me" & closes with "Don't Let It Happen to Me."  (Etched matrix # "K-12-635-A-1").

COVER - VERY GOOD

  Front cover has no tape, ink spills, smudges, color fading, puncture holes, streaking, writing, bubbles or stickers. There are some very faint discoloration speckles that are nearly invisible. Color & print have maintained an excellent richness & quality. Fairly clean seven-inch seam split on top & bottom which is fortunately free of frays & tatters. No ring wear on front or back. Noticeable corner banging; unprinted spine looks very good. Small amount of creased corner banging. Label looks very good. No stains, cuts, tears, abrasions, writing or stickers. Sharp cut hole with mild spindle brushings.

  We give great importance to grading our items accurately. No deep scratches of major significance. Free of residue & surface shivers. There are some mild scratches & abrasions on the platter. The thick platter should reproduce the sound well out in front of the surface wear.
