Description
Up for auction is a 78 rpm record by James Brown with The Famous Flames on the early R&B Federal label #12290.
The sides are Chonnie-On-Chon / I Won't Plead No More.
I have 3 other James Brown 78s on Federal for auction (all finishing within a few minutes of each other)…and when combined, they comprise of what online discographies say are 4 of his first 10 records. Shipping & handling for one record will be $4.00 media mail and $1.00 for each additional record. Winning all 4 of these James Brown auctions would render media mail S&H free of charge.
A family member, an avid juke box collector, has recently decided to part with his record collection. These records have been in storage since the early 70’s and have not been on a turntable platter in almost 40 years until now to test their playability.
I found the following grading system online.
- NM = near new condition
- E = barely played, extremely close to near new condition
- VG = played, but not abused condition, should play very well, may have light scratches, scuffs
- G = well played, but should play pretty well, will have deeper scratches, scuff; may have some background noise, scratches, scuffs, wear
- P = well used, pretty bad condition, lots of background noise
According to this grading system, this record will fall into the VG category.
As a frequent buyer of 78s on eBay, I know the safe way of packing the records for secure mailing.
