JAD STONE AND LUV mosiac - pieces of stone
**********************************************************************************

Excellent acid archives styled lounge garage / psych / random weirdness. Patrik Lundborg wrote
"You know, sometimes an album that you've been wanting to hear for a very long time, when you finally lay your hands on a copy it far succeeds any expectations you had of it in the first place. One of those landed in my mailbox the other day. JADE STONE & LUV / Mosaics - Pieces of Stone, a US private press from '77. I'd only read about it on a few lists and got interested years ago, but it always seemed too expensive to give it a shot. Anyway, a copy turned up at a fair price due to it having been a radio station copy, and duly had the station's call letters in big black marker pen on the front. Not that it mattered much, though, 'cause the photo of the couple in question on the cover would've been a great candidate for inclusion in one of the "Incredible Strange Music Books"! It has to be seen to be believed!! As for the music within, well I must say that I was totally and utterly blown away by all tracks bar two (and those were at least OK). Great songs, incredibly tight backing and lots of searing and biting guitar leads. Some great string arrangements on some tracks, and the angelic choral work of Debbie Luv is superb and original. Add to this the fact that Jade Stone himself sounds A LOT like the mighty Darius himself in the vocal department. The album's ace and is really funky. Not really what you would expect from a '77 album. Stan Denski (hi!) had it in his latest list, and said that it sounded a bit like Sonny & Cher had they lived in a trailer park in Kentucky. That comment made me no wiser, but now that I've heard it I get the picture. So, get Stan's copy if it's not gone, you won't be disappointed. The final track, "Reality" is an infectious garage track with dual wah-wah guitars battling for space...."

GRADES:

Grades are sleeve/record. Only one grade means there is no picture sleeve. If there is a picture sleeve missing to this issue I will note it in the description.

NC = Center missing. WOC = Writing on cover. WOBC = Writing on back cover.  SWOBC = Slight writing on back.WOL=Writing on label CW = Cover wear. RW = Ringwear. SOC / SOL = Sticker on cover/label SSOL=Sticker stain on label SOBC = Sticker on backcover, TOL = Tapemarks on lbl,  SWDNAP = Slight warp does not effect playing,TOC = Tape, tapemarks on cover, SPS = Split seam

M- is just a shade away from Mint, what many call Mint. I rarely call records mint cause there are so many things that a human eye and miss. I very rarely grade records with this grade. Sleeve should be as close to perfect and new from the factory as you can get.

EX is also really really clean, just a handfull of light hairlines, fiedlity must be great with no distortion or noise due to wear. What many call Mint- or NM. I rarely grade with this grade. Sleeve should have no real faults, maybe a hint of dirt or a bit wrinkly, maybe a bit yellowed.

VG++ a great copy that could have a few hairlines but still lots of luster / shine or maybe one or two light marks but very shiny apart from that, these records also play great. Sleeve could have slight general wear but look nice. Maybe a clean sleeve with just one rip or two at the opening.

VG+ still a decent copy, most used records are in this condition or less. Can have quite a few hairlines and a few light marks but still some shine. Could also be very shiny but with one small more distinct mark making a pop or two. Must play well with just light crackle or maybe the odd lighter pop.  More general wear or maybe small writing, small tear or so. Generally looks OK

VG can have many hairlines or small light marks, may even have some bigger marks but nothing too bad. Can play with some distortion but nothing that overcomes the music. Still good enough to DJ with, usually it even plays better than VG but the visual is a lot of wear. More wear, tears etc

VG- my worst grade, records are well used. Play with distortion at most times, usually works as a DJ copy still. Not a beautiful sleeve, tears, writing, probably both.
