For auction is one of the sought-after rare hot jazz records - Jackson and His Southern Stompers - on 7" Marathon #227. The mystery surrounding this group and this 1928 session may never be solved - although there are plenty of opinions as to who this may be. Many believe this to be Charlie Johnson's Paradise Orchestra; however, there are others who believe it to be Mike Jackson. You decide....
The record is in average shape for these old Marathons/Nutmegs. Even in pristine condition, these weren't generally known for their fidelity - probably due to the finer groove cut on these 7" pressings. The record has the obilgatory scuffs, surface scratches, dings, and rubs....it is not mint, so please don't expect new store stock quality. However, it is better than most that you're likely to come across anytime soon - especially for the low starting price of this auction.
If you collect (or if you are a fan of jazz, hot jazz, or 20's dance music), I'm sure you need/want this in your collection; it's one of the somewhat rare, sought-after records in the genre.
