Released in time for the new Michael film - released in April 2026 to the biggest debut weekend ever for a biographical film, though that's not to unsully the grave and widely documented allegations of child sexual abuse against the man and now his legacy - this Universal Music Japan compilation arrives timed to the biopic's Japanese release, spanning 25 tracks across the Motown years, from 'I Want You Back' and 'ABC' through to the early solo material of 'Ben' and 'One Day In Your Life'. The music, at least, requires no qualifications: the 5's Motown run from 1969-75 is one of the great pop catalogues, and this era predates everything that complicated it.
