Description
Up for auction is a very nice, original copy of the Jackie McLean album "One Step Beyond" originally released in the U.S. on Blue Note Records (BLP 4137) in 1963.

-Correct 43 West 61st St., New York 23 address on cover
-Deep groove labels (only Side One)
-Plastylite "P" or "Ear" in run-outs
-Original laminated, paste-down cover
-VANGELDER mastering stamp in run-out

-Vinyl comes in audiophile protective inner sleeve
Condition:
Cover is still in nice condition with light signs of wear and age. Front lamination still has much of its shine, but does show rubbing wear, especially at bottom middle (see photo). Seams are nice, no splits, just some light rubbing. Back is generally clean with some light aging to top and right edges. Some spots at top middle. Corners are good, but show some light chipping and rub. Still an attractive original original. Grade: Very Good Plus (VG+).
The vinyl is very nice, still has its original high gloss shine. No obvious scratches or scuffs, but under a very strong light, it shows just a couple very tiny faint, superficial marks that cannot be felt, nor do they affect the quality of playback. The vinyl looks very clean. The labels look clean, spindle holes look clean, not worn.
Play-Tested:
When played in the recommended Mono Mode, the sound quality is excellent, no significant signs of wear or damage. Perhaps some very light pressing noise on the run-in grooves, but it fades out once the music kicks in. Generally, it plays with nice, full-bodied mono fidelity. Not audiophile perfect, but none of these originals are. Still, a very nicely preserved original mono pressing. Grade: Excellent (EX).
