Description
This item is a 10 inch aluminum acetate disc recorded at 78 rpm by Jack Teagarden. It is a live performance on the “In Town Tonight” program broadcast over WBBM TV in Chicago on 21 February 1955. Jack’s band is a sextet that includes Tony Parenti on clarinet; the rest of the personnel is unknown to me. They perform the tune “St. James Infirmary” which has a vocal and “water glass” trombone solo by Jack as well as solos by Parenti, trumpet and piano. This appears to be a professionally recorded disc as the sound quality is excellent. The disc itself is clean an glossy and would visually grade as E+ except that there are a few tiny scratches near the end of the tune that are audible briefly. They do not affect tracking. Therefore I visually grade the record as E (Excellent). It is a beautiful player! The disc run time is about 4 minutes and 50 seconds which includes a brief announcer introduction and closing. The flip side of the disc is blank and unrecorded. Packing and Shipping is $4.00 for Media Mail. Priority Mail and Overseas shipping will require a quote according to destination. Insurance is recommended and optional.
