Description
Steppenwolf's biker anthem Born To Be Wild remains a rock classic and the epitome of the late 60's west coast rock scene. With it's images of freedom , liberty and sexual awakening few could have known that the roots of the band lay in a Mersey- inspired beat group from Toronto , Jack London and The Sparrows founded by the song's author Dennis Edmonton ( aka Mars Bonfire)
This is the rare original first issue album on Capitol T6115 Canadian issue by guitarist Mars Bonfire, his drummer brother Jerry Edmonton, and bass player Nick St. Nicholas, all of whom figured in the formation of Steppenwolf. Primitive garage beat stuff, some of which has a good edge to it. This album has an incredibly great period cover, the back has pics and bios and it's interesting that Jerry lists his "ambition" as "to buy a Jaguar" which I do believe is what led to his passing in 1993.
One of the most sought after Canadian 60s pieces of vinyl. A must for any collector of the period, the region, the label and also the music of The Beatles, The Kinks, Dave Clark 5, and the youthful Garage R&B Beat bands of the era.
Cover is VG+. 4 inch bottom right seam split has been neatly repaired ( reglued). Includes the correct original Capitol inner sleeve.
Visually vinyl is a glossy VG/VG+ with light scuff marks and light hairline ( nothing deep that can be felt) scratches.
Play graded on a high end turntable sound is loud and clean with minimal surface noise on the quieter passages ( not obtrusive and no skips).
Buyer pays $8 shipping to the US or $20 overseas.
