Description
Bought at an estate sale. It was in a plain white sleeve amongst other 45s. Not a record expert or grader but I can tell you this....it looks like it is NEW.....but remember...that's just an amateur looking at it with the naked eye in window light. I did not play it as I am going to be very cautious and careful with this extremely rare one!
The pictures 1 & 2 are with window light and 3 & 4 are the same window light but with the aid of a flash. As you can see by these, the record and label look really nice!
As one garage rock record expert put it, "It's one of the world's rarest 45s, with a tiny handful of copies known, and even a scruffy one reaches into the hundreds on eBay."
Another said: "I own a copy, and have had an extra in low grade condition not long ago. It is not as rare as to be impossible to find, but it is very tough to come across. The group was based in or near Maplewood & Sulphur, Louisiana. A few of the guys later recorded in a group called the Wild Childs. That group issued one 45rpm single in the fall of 1970 on the Mercury label,'Closer To You' ".
The label(J & S Records refers to Jay Doucet & Stuart Fontenot) is a one-off vanity / custom pressing of Flat Town Music Company in Ville Platte, LA that was home to the JIN and Swallow label since 1957 . Flat Town,/JIN/SWALLOW/Maison de Soul was and is headed by the legendary songwriter/music producer extraordinaire Floyd Soileau (hence, the SWALLOW label).
