J. B Hutto and the Hawks 1966 Testament recording number 2213 contains ten very raw slide guitar blues songs. At best J. B. is primitive and really pushes the envelope at times. Of particular interest on this album are: Dust My Broom, Sloppy Drunk and Pet Cream Man plus seven other gems. For those unaware of J. B. Hutto and the Hawks you are in for a rare treat. Early in his career he recorded for Chance label in the early 50's, these recordings from 1966 have the same intensity and energy he displayed ten years or so earlier. To say he was "intense" is a hell of an understatement. Sounding very like Elmore James but with a much more brittle edge he captures all of the soul of true slide blues guitar. He was one of the best. He died of cancer in 1983. This record is in MINT- condition.
