Label Condition: Absolute contender for the ‘prettiest’ and freshest pair of vintage Columbia labels I have yet seen. This pair are pure class, any record from 65 with labels that look this clean and new are exceptional. - a real stunner for the jazz connoisseur,after all they are brand new. This label was the last Columbia label that had a 3/4" beveled outer ridge creating an inner depression. (Please see label scans for all information needed).

Original Year of Release: 1965, can't be totally certain when this one was pressed, but its clearly early.By the summer of '65 Columbia had changed to the white arrows,so FEW copies of this record will have these black arrows.

Brief Artist & Album Info: Another one to keep the variety going, I never want to be predictable, I am somewhat of a jazz connoisseur, and I do have an interest in this type of music (I rarely offer items that I no have interest in at all, whatever their potential values). I am a huge fan of Coltrane and Davis and a few others but my knowledge is limited for other artists. So I keep this simple, Monk plays piano, Charlie Rouse plays tenor sax; Butch Warren the bass and Ben Riley, drums. Its a great trad-jazz album that’s fast approaching forty five years old, the cover is new, the record is new and will play with stunning sound that can only be described as virtually perfect. If any jazz fan and collector gets to read this advert I guarantee one of the finest and cleanest records I have ever offered on the ‘Bay’. To hear an album this age that will play with such stunning hi-fi sound with such clarity will be a pure joy and no fan of this genre will fail to be moved by this this incredible record.

Cover Grade and Format: Still has the outer shrink,which I opened to inspect and verify the labels and matrixes. This was made in USA and the back has the vintage paste-on type finish.

Cover Front: Retaining a richness and color intensity of a new sleeve,the cover appears as it would have 45 yrs ago,there is a real gentle crease on the top left,under the shrink wrap,and there is no fading or yellowing whatsoever

Cover Back: A text only back as many jazz records were, this white unprotected back is still fine. The paste-on main face is still rock solid and has no lifting or fraying, rubbing is zero and no ring wear either.

Top Edge: Virtually unworn.

Bottom Edge: Unworn.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, sharp with no wear. Record entered on right outside edge.

Spine and Text: Solid and square with little wear, text is perfect and unworn under the uncracked laminate.

Corners: All four show no wear. All still nicely shaped too, few 45 year olds will look much better.

Cover Summary: A lovely all round example of this fragile mid-60’s cover, one that could prove hard to match any time soon. 

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: Mint(Still Sealed) The inner bag is fully intact.A stunning visual copy. Super clean, shiny, jet black and very heavily pressed. Very deep grooves with the utmost of quality stored inside them. A copy never played.  The Record is DEAD FLAT.Visually a super record that should please all collectors.

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: Jazz albums were usually the finest recorded genre of music put to vinyl, even records dating back to the fifties and early 60s were exceptional with real hi-fi sound - this is a specialist market and this super record will play up to its high visual grading with nothing to fault. Strong, undistorted sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is astonishing with a massive dynamic range and very full sound, jazz rarely sounds better than from mint vinyl, the clarity and definition of the instruments is sublime. Any surface sounds are almost zero and few copies will play better than this, most would like to match it. Both channels will be clean and sharp, and has been generally well stored and looked after, almost certainly in a non-smoking environment. Little, if anything spoiled my pleasure when viewing this vintage jazz record. This copy could prove near impossible to find significantly better.

Final Summary: Class record, class performance, class sound. This record has to be seen (and heard) to be believed.This has not been out of the cover for forty five something years. The labels astonish, the sound will astound, this is for the jazz vinyl serious collector. Any record this age in this condition will be scarce, a jazz item can only be rare. If Monk is your man, don't even think about losing this one – Ted.
