Iron Maiden - The soundhouse tapes - 1979
Original issue debut 7" in picture sleeve.
Well here it is! and what a joy it is for me to offer this item in this condition. I have been dealing with maiden rarities for over 15 years and (luckily) have sold over a dozen of this rare record over the years. BUT i have to state the condition of this item is near stunning.
Released on the 9th of November in 1979, well i say released it was available for sale at gigs from that date and not (at that time) available in shops. Limited to 5000 copies only. This one was purchased from the gig that Iron Maiden played in Grimsby (Central Hall - Duncombe Street) on Feb 5th 1980. I have bought several copies of this single that originated from that gig. It would seem the rockers of Grimsby were quite keen on buying the records that were on sale at gigs at the time. Some of the singles i have had from that gig were signed by the line up of the time and i have even had a couple signed by Neal Kay the DJ who toured with Maiden at the time and who's write up about the band apperas on the back of the single. This one was (luckily) bought and safely put in the owners car so that he didn't hold it throughout the gig. Many of my past copies have usually had creasing to the sleeve.
The condition of the sleeve is near stunning, with just one visible light crease at the top of the sleeve (see pic). As you would expect from an original, the sleeve is of heavy card, it opens at the top and has the 'scoop' cut out on the back (see pic). The inside of the sleeve is 'off white' confirming it's age. The sleeve in general is very very 'crisp'. It has sharp corners and the orange of the sleeve is still quite vibrant in colour. Having seen so many of these singles this is by far the best sleeve i have ever seen. Stunning!
The record is in excellent condition, it does have some very very light surface scuffs that are visible under a bright light, these are from the stiffness of the sleeve, it is now in an inner sleeve to prevent any more scuffing.
The Matrix numbers in the run off grooves of the single are as follows.
A Side - *EG* SA LYN 7627 - 1T (very feint) ROK - 1-A
B Side - *EG* SA ROK - 1 - B LYN 7628 - 1T (very feint).
Starting with the EG and following around the single anti clockwise is exactly how the details read above - again confirming that this is a genuine original.
The labels are in excellent condition, there are no signs of play around the spindle holes, the owner states he remembers playing it just once!
Please study the pictures and re-read the details above. I know these things turn up now and again on Ebay! BUT rarely in this condition and with details confirming when and where it was bought. This 25 year old piece of maiden history has had one owner from new, make your bid count and become it's second owner and cherish it for another 25 years! I guarantee to answer your questions.
