Description
This auction is for a used, but in very nice condition, 33 rpm vinyl album that is titled “Introducing The Beatles” that is released on the Vee Jay record label.
I will rate the condition of the cover and sleeve separate from the vinyl record.
Back in the mid 1980’s, a friend of mine gave me his entire Beatle record collection; this is one of them. Unfortunately, when he purchased a 45 single or LP album, he would rubber stamp on the inside of the sleeve the year the record was released and the year he bought the record. I told him that doing this most likely would reduce the value of the record in the future, but he still continued to stamp them. I already had my own copy of this album, so I just packed this copy that he gave me away.
Please note and keep in mind that I do not have a turntable. I have not had one for 20 years or more. When CD’s hit the market and records were being faded out, I stopped buying vinyl. I do not recall ever playing this album since I had my own copy. No turntable was available to me to play it for this auction. I make the following rating based on viewing the record only.
The vinyl record is in near mint condition. There are absolutely no scratches, smudges, smears or finger prints on the vinyl. As seen in the photo the wax is very clean and shiny on both sides, like new! However; on side 2, at the very end of the last track and before the trail off groove, there is a very small flaw in the wax that looks to be a manufacturer flaw. I do not know if this causes a skip or not.
The album cover is like new, showing miner wear. The jacket shows no scratches, tears, or stains on the front photo cover. All 3 edge spines are still intact. There are no wear through holes from the record. But wear is seen on both the front and back jacket at the opening slit that houses the album. There is also slight wear at the lower front right corner of the cover. It’s easier for you to view the photos, than for me to explain what I see.
The inner white paper sleeve is in A+ like condition, but does show yellowing from age. I say A+ because other than a slight wrinkle, and a 0.125” tear at the lower left corner that the rubber stamp had made, there are no other tears; there are also no rips or holes where the record would had worn through at the edges. All edges and seams are intact.
On the top of the back cover, you can see the word “Stereophonic” and the catalog number “SR 1062” written upside down and backwards. I am assuming that it was part of the front cover that overlapped onto the back, and then the back cover sheet was pasted over it.
The following are all the catalog numbers that I find on this album: There is the covered catalog number mentioned above that reads “SR 1062”; There is the catalog number on the upper right corner of the back cover that is “VJLP 1062”; The number on both sides of the record label is also “VJLP 1062”; At the lower right corner seam of the jacket cover is “LP 1062”; There are the numbers that are etched into the wax between the fade out grooves: Side 1 is 63-3402, and Side 2 is 63-3403.
I am starting the bidding low because I do not know if the album has any value, and to give a chance for all to bid on it, if it does.
