Icarus THE MARVEL WORLD OF ICARUS LP A1/B1 UK 1st press 1972 Pye Int. Condition is Used. Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd Class. This is an incredibly rare copy of simply the maddest record I have ever heard. When released it sold in tiny amounts and was immediately withdrawn and deleted for copyright issues. Looking online it is almost impossible to find and I can only find evidence of three sold here on eBay. Mine is an original 1972 copy. I think it’s important to share everything I can about such a valuable record. So, You can see from the pictures that the rear cover is clearly nearly 50 years old but is fully intact. Side two, you can see from the picture has an ugly scar but I’ve played it and the album plays through all songs well. Of course, for such an old record you can hear the crackles and pops when played on a record player. The final song - Captain America - jumped the first time I played it, but not the second time. It got stuck in the silence between Silver Surfer and Things Thing but when I touched the arm of the needle it moved on and played the Things Thing perfectly. Record collector magazine values it at £150. Mint copies are currently selling for almost £400 in Europe and nigh on £300 in Australia according to Discogs.com . The album was remastered recently and you can buy a CD of it now, but this is one of only a few originals that appear to be for sale any where. Have to say, listening to it, it is as mad as it gets. Very much a product of the ‘70’s.
