ISLAND Pictures (Round Records 01001) H.R. Giger King Crimson RARE Swiss Prog Original MINT-
RARE original Swiss first (and only) pressing of Island`s debut album "Pictures" on Round Records (1977). No official re-issues of "Pictures" were ever made.
Sounding something like a cross between King Crimson and Van Der Graaf Generator, Island`s "Pictures" is a very convincing, meticulously crafted take on progressive stylings of the era. When King Crimson dropped the progressive baton (with "Red", September 1974), it was bands such as Island that picked the baton up, ran with it and passed it on.
Famed for its cover by controversial artist H.R. Giger, "Pictures" is highly sought after amongst collectors and probably one of the most noteworthy Swiss entries into the canon of rock. 
As an intriguing sidenote, Island keyboardist Peter Scherer resurfaced in the mid-eighties as one-half of avant-jazz-pop duo "Ambitious Lovers", alongside Arto Lindsay (ex-DNA), producing a trio of critically well-received albums.
GRADING:
EX+ COVER with light general wear, mainly from years-long storage. Please see photos for details.
- Original first pressing gatefold sleeve, fully laminated inside and out.
- Pronounced wear along spine, with a number of creases, front and back. 
- "Island Pictures" print on spine is still legible.
- Scuffed corner at bottom left.

MINT- RECORD, played no more than a handful of times. In simply awesome condition!
- One single, light spindle line to each label, barely visible.
- Side One of this record looks (and sounds) near-perfect, unplayed and pristine.
- Side Two: A tiny little scratch (2mm long; about 5 minutes into "Herold And King/Dloreh") causes 2-3 barely audible clicks.
- Side Two: A superficial paper scuff (approx. 1 inch long; in "Here And Now") is inaudible.
PLEASE NOTE: Not to be compared with the more-often-than-not substandard vinyl on offer on eBay, this item is in honestly-graded EX+/MINT- condition:  You will be hard-pressed to find another copy of "Pictures" offering similar value-for-money on all of eBay!
