Isabel Baker: I Like God's Style. Romco Records HF-101, mono only, 1965.

Extremely rare Christian psychabilly record. Baker was a 16-year-old with a huge whammy bar Fender, a dozen of her own songs, a raw, loose backup band, and one heckuva an odd voice. She's not tone-deaf--she stays on tune for the most part--but her tone was definitely an outsider thing. If you like The Shaggs, early Christian rock, raw rockabilly, or something just plain insane, you'll like this album, and this is one of the best copies you'll ever come across. This is definitely one of the first Christian rock records ever made.

Cover has mild ringwear and light foxing on the front, and mild foxing on the back. The seams are a little worn, but there are no splits. There are no markings on the sleeve or LP. The record is in great condition, with a little light scuffing. Side 1 plays EX- with one mild pop from a pressing bubble and an occasional light noise. Side 2 plays EX with occasional light noise. It'll be a while before this LP shows up--popsike shows four auctions, only in 2007. Buy now!
