Originally released in 1985 and celebrating its 40th anniversary, Live After Death is often considered one of, if not, the best live metal album of all time. Captured during London heavy metal legends Iron Maiden's vast World Slavery Tour which saw them perform 187 concerts over the course of 331 days out on the road, the material that makes up the record comes mostly from their performances at Long Beach Arena in California, from 14th to 17th March 1985, while the final third comes from earlier on the tour at London's Hammersmith Odeon on 8th - 12th October 1984. While of course the setlist features several cuts from 1984's Powerslave which the band were out promoting, such as 'Aces High', '2 Minutes To Midnight' and 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner', ample space is also provided for what nowadays reads like a greatest hits selection, with epic takes of 'The Trooper', 'The Number Of The Beast', 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' and 'Run To The Hills', to name but a small handful. Complete with extensive booklet and replica tour pass, whether you're an OG old head wanting to relive their glory days, or a more youthful newcomer wanting to cosplay as a beer-bellied NWOBHM lifer, this anniversary edition is essential spinning material for any self-professed Maidenhead.
