IRON BUTTERFLY - IN A GADDA DA VIDA (SD33-250) NM/MINT IN SHRINK 2nd PRESSING YELLOW LABEL - PRESSWELL RECORDS MFG. CO
CONDITION DETAILS:
JACKET (NM) This record was a New-Old-Stock (NOS) copy until very recently. It was opened and the shrink wrap was immediately and neatly clear-taped to the open end to preserve its new condition going forward. The jacket has a small 1/4" cut-out punch hole in the lower right corner. The shrink wrap is near perfect. Upper right corner has a touch of rub-wear where the shrink is pulled back just a bit, the other corners are near perfect. Printing and paper stock on both sides are clean and fresh. Except for the punch-hole, you probably won't find a better jacket!
VINYL (M) I hesitate to call any opened record as MINT, but this one would be it. As a former NOS copy, it appears to have been just taken out of the jacket. It is a yellow label, 2nd pressing with a 75 Rockefeller address on the Side 1 label, but an 1841 Broadway address on the Side 2 label, manufactured at Presswell Records Mfg Co. The vinyl is amazingly clean, There are no signs of wear or even use, except a tiny hint of paper scuff from removal from the sleeve.
INSERTS - None, as issued. Generic, plain paper inner sleeve.
NOTE - You can find these records a dime-a-dozen because of its incredible press quantity, but try finding one in this pristine condition - not so easy. Get this one here for a bargain starting price!
PERSONAL NOTES ON THE MUSIC - This record is well-known far-and-wide as one of the pinnacles of the psychedelic rock age. It gained that status mainly on the basis of the side-long 17-minute extended jam title song, "In A Gadda Da Vida." This particular song has been rather scoured in the critics corners, but if you're looking for the epitome of psych - this is it! Of course, the record does have a side 1, which has a handful of robust psych rockers, all under 5 minutes. The band is really into this stuff and it comes across well. Standouts are Eric Brann on lead guitar and Lee Dorman, whose ultra-busy and throbbing bass work just has to be heard to be believed. All-in-all, this is a classic and a must have for any late 60s/70s rock collection.

All my records have been shelf-stored vertically in a non-smoking home since their purchase. They have only been played on high-quality vintage turntables using audiophile-level cartridges and styli (eg. currently using Shure M97xE) at a tracking force of 1.5g+.?
