Description
Australian pop and alternative rock stars INXS began their career in 1977. The debut album was released in 1980. INXS found worldwide sucess with the release of 'Shabooh Shoobah' in 1982, on the strength of two singles: : "Don't Change" and "The One Thing". INXS was officially on the map! Fame continued to grow with 'The Swing', released FORTY years ago, in 1984. That awesome album gave us the hits: "Original Sin" (which features Daryl Hall on backing vocals), and the funky and quirky "I Send a Message".
The breakthrough album was released in 1985, and titled 'Listen Like Thieves', which sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide! It's chock-full of hits: "This Time", "Kiss the Dirt (Falling Down the Mountain)", "What You Need", and the title track. The band continued to record and tour, until the death of lead singer Michael Hutchence in 1997. They tried to continue on with new singers, and even released new music, but it was never the same. A few complilations and re-recordings were released through the years, but we haven't heard from INXS since 2012. (RIP Michael. You were the spark that helped INXS become one of the biggest bands in the world in the 80s and 90s, and the definition of a rock star. You are missed...)
Coming at you today is a TRIPLE SHOT of INXS music, on 12" vinyl! First up is from 1985, and the first single released from 'Listen Like Thieves', called "What You Need"! On shiny and clean vinyl, looking really, really good. This has two mixes of "What You Need", plus the 12" versions of "Melting in the Sun" and "Burn For You", from the 1984 album 'The Swing'! Jacket is in fantastic shape, with only a tiny bit of shelf-wear on it.
Next up is the 12" of "New Sensation", originally from the 1988 smash hit album 'Kick'. This one has the LP version, the radio remix edit, and the 12" extended mix ('Nick's Twelve Inch Mix'). That extended remix is the bomb! A song guaranteed to make you move...and groove. One of their best tracks! Vinyl has a couple of very light surface marks on it, mainly on the B side (LP and radio edit side). Die-cut sleeve looking really good!
Lastly, we have a special, limited edition, collector's 12" of "Bitter Tears", backed with "Disappear" and "Soothe Me"! Jacket made to look like a concert ticket (sort of). This originally came with a poster (that's no longer available). There's some kind of flaw on the song "Soothe Me", but that could be from the manufacturing process. Will probably be audible. (Not a scratch, but more like a bubble. You don't see this much.) The other two songs look immaculate, and should sound great! Jacket looking really, really good, as well.
A sweet three pack of vintage INXS vinyl 12" maxi-singles, from the mid 80s to '91, when INXS ruled the airwaves (and MTV) with their unique brand of rock/pop/dance/new wave music, straight from the land of Oz!
