Description
THE INVADERS: Spacing Out LP (Duane LP-1002)
Record and cover (still in shrink) are Near Mint. Record appears virtually unplayed and is completely flat with no sign of warping. Labels have minimal spindle marks (see photos). Cover has minimal wear to corners (see photos).
Details: Duane logo and "DUANE L.P. 1102" catalog number at top-right of front cover and top left of back cover. "DUANE L.P. 1102" at top of spine, "L...P...1...1...0...2" (vertically -- see photo) at bottom of spine. Cover is old-style thick cardboard (brown inside, not white) with a paste-on back. Duane logo at top and "DUANE-LP-1102-A" on side A label. Duane logo at top and "DUANE-LP-1102-B" on side B label. Side A has two deep grooves, approximately 1 3/4" diameter and 2 3/4" diameter. Side B has one deep groove, approximately 1 3/4" diameter. Side A dead wax reads "DUANE 1101 A" only. Side B dead wax reads "DUANE 1101 B" only.
Very nice copy of this highly desirable psychedelic funk LP, which was apparently originally issued in the Bahamas circa 1970. There is a lot of contradictory information about the pressing history of this LP and we have not been able to find any definitive way to determine what pressing this is. It is definitely NOT the recent Swedish reissue on Baadassss (entirely different label, no Duane logo on front cover). It also definitely NOT the "no label" bootleg reissue (entirely different label, no Duane logo on front cover). We have also seen reference to a reissue with the Duane logo on the left of the labels, but have seen no examples. As you can see, the label logo on this copy is at the top center, so is not one of those.
As far as we can tell, this copy is the same pressing as these two examples, sold as original:

But... this copy also seems to be identical to the copy discussed on this forum thread from soulstrut.com:

The consensus on that thread is that the copy in question looks very much like the original but it is not. (Note the mention of two deep grooves on side A and one on side B).
Also, the most recent popsike listing for an original indicates that the dead wax has "Etched Initials LW and backward R’s" which are definitlely not present on this copy. See:

However we have seen no other indication that these markings are a decisive factor in determining the originality of this LP.
So... Based on all the available information, we will assume that this copy is identical to the one discussed on the soulstrut thread and is an early reissue, not an original, despite (apparently) identical examples being sold as original. To be clear: we are not claiming that this copy is an original pressing. If anyone has any more specific/definitive/verifiable information, please let us know.
