INTRODUCING THE BEATLES / Vee Jay 1062 / DEBUT Version 2 / BLANK Back Cover

Offered is Introducing..... THE BEATLES / Englands No. 1 Vocal Group, on Vee Jay Label VJLP 1062.

This is The Beatles U.S. debut release "Version 1" album, and is the hard-to-find blank back cover. During the production of this Beatles debut album, Vee Jay was apparently having legal troubles, & produced a relatively small run of this "Blank Back" in between the issue of the "advertising" back cover, and the more numerous "song titles" back cover.

We have examined this one carefully, & here is what we have found:

1) George's shadow on the right of the front cover is clearly visible, as are Paul's hands.

2) The width of the runout deadwax is .75".

3) The LP has the oval Vee Jay on the label, with the colours (particularly the greens) still fairly vibrant rather than faded.

4) "Love Me Do" is track 6 on side 1 and "P.S. I Love You" is track 1 on side 2.

5) Oval Vee Jay label, "INTRODUCING the BEATLES", & "THE BEATLES" are all above the spindle hole.

6) Here is what appears in the deadwax runout matrix:

Side 1 : "? 5702" (handwritten) "MR" (circled) "63-3402" "Audio Matrix"

Side 2 : "? 5702-X" (handwritten) "Audio Matrix" "MR" (circled) "6-29-63"

Note : The "?" is actually a triangle (what is called the Greek "Delta" sign- not an option on my clunky keyboard). Audio Matrix & MR are stamped, the numbers are handwritten. The matrix on the label reads "63-3402" on Side one, and "63-3403" on Side 2 (see label photos).

THE VINYL CONDITION : VG : Both Side 1 & 2 have numerous hairline marks that are shallow. There are no deep marks. There are spindle marks & a few wrinkles on the labels. The LP retains a good portion of its original gloss.

A play-grade of the LP confirms the VG grading. All tracks play through, with no skipping or sticking. Present is the light noise from the hairlines.

THE COVER CONDITION : VG+ : Present is moderate ringwear on the front, with some scuffing; moderate edgewear; a small orange mark under the oval Vee Jay logo on the front cover; the seams (including the spine) are intact, with the exception of a small (1") tear at the opening of the bottom seam. There is no writing or dirt.

Included is the original Vee Jay inner sleeve (pictured).

We have placed the LP in an audiophile (plastic-lined) inner sleeve for protection.
