 INTRODUCING LEE MORGAN Savoy Hi Fi MONO Recording MG 12091
                    with Hank Mobley's Quintet Recorded in 1956
To my knowledge this is Lee's first recording under his own name and his only recording for Ozzie Cadena's SAVOY Record Label.He is supported here by Hank Mobley's Quintet.This classic recording is extremely rare.I will attempt to give as accurate and detailed description as possible.I'm not a professional dealer but just a long time record collector who purchased this disc in the mid-50's at Ozzie Cadena's record shop which was located on West Market St.in Newark,NewJersey.Little did I realize as a kid what exalted surroundings I was in.But Ozzie encouraged us young jazz musicians to come back to his shop which we did.
    This is a visual grading of the album:
The heavy vinyl retains a deep luster on both sides.It shows minimal wear in my estimation.
Some very light scratches can be seen on Side A...nothing that can be felt,tho.I see no scratches on Side B.A few imperfections can qualify as mfg.defects.
    RVG is etched on the trail-off wax.Engineer was Rudy Van Gelder.
    The labels are very clean.Just minor marks of wear from handling can be seen around the center hole.No stickers or writing can be seen.I would grade Side A and Side B VG+.
     The cover I grade as Very Good(VG).
The entire cover is very firm and retains a lot of its original gloss.Ring wear is evident from shelf storage.Small laminate imperfection is at the upper left-hand corner and there is wear to that corner.Just at Art Taylors' neck in the picture there is a tear,less than a 1/2" and a slight bend which affects the back cover in the same way.
   The back cover shows soil and ring wear.And except for the noted tear there is no other damage except for some pinhole marks in the middle.All the printing is legible.The spine is strong and shows no wear except for the corners.
There are no seam splits.There are chips on the bottom seam and a few on the top seam.
      There is visible wear at the upper and lower right-hand corners at the opening and the above-mentioned tear about a third of the way down.Over-all the cover is still very strong and looks very good.Lee was playing with Dizzy's big band at the time and the entire trumpet section used these horns which were designed by Diz.It was a great time.
