Ah yes a fine and much demanded one by perhaps the first true superstar of recorded sound, Billy Murray. Sensational, versatile, humorous and hugely prolific, Billy Murray embodies a now largely forgotten age before film and, ironically, before the primacy of sound recording and radio where vaudeville, variety shows and the stage reigned supreme. All in all the man made upwards of 10,000 recordings over the course of his career, a record at the time for any singer. In My Merry Oldsmobile represents one of the first forays by popular songwriters into the automobile as a prime subject matter. This disc is the original 1905 pressing, judging by the very large label and overall style of the design. Reissues were made in the early 1910's, which feature a smaller label and somewhat altered design. The record is in very good shape considering it's age, well over 100 years by now. The surface shows some signs of wear but still appears glossy and relatively uniform in colour. This disc is one sided. Don't miss out on this highly demanded piece!
