About 7 or 8 years ago, I had the good fortune to buy the complete music collection of one of the two directors of the Australian label, Regular Records, including a huge storage space containing the entire Regular Records Archives. I sold a few odd items over the first couple of years, and the (huge!) balance has remained untouched. 

The Archives was loaded with master tapes, video masters, contracts, complete files on each artist...as well as mint copies of virtually EVERY vinyl, CD, and cassette release...PLUS...vinyl TEST PRESSINGS of every release...

And this...is a quite amazing one of those test pressings.

CAT. #:          ICENOUSE (this is handwritten, and one would assume they meant to write 'ICEHOUSE', but it definitely says 'ICENOUSE'.)  .
DATE:         1983 .
PRESSED IN:    AUSTRALIA .

Comes in its original plain white die-cut paper sleeve...Has generic WEA TEST PRESSING labels with the 'catalogue number' and date it was 'cut' (17 August 1983) handwritten on one label; the other has no handwriting, just the plain generic label.

About 5 years ago, I found a copy of this single, and wrote the following (after having gone through what I thought was the entire archive of vinyl): 

"There was only one of this in the Archives...and it was NEVER RELEASED. The Regular director has no recollection of it at all, and neither Iva nor Keith Welsh (I spoke to Keith and showed it to him a few months back) have no recollection of it either, nor even where it was recorded...but the tracks are definitely live and have definitely NEVER been released. All that hints that this may be a complete one-of-a-kind...I would certainly be treating it as such.

In the picture attached (not now, back 5 years ago, remember), the small light yellow 'Post-It' note stuck to the sleeve was written by myself when I was researching it a few months back and was pondering if the 'B' side may have been a studio version - the quality is SO good and as there was no crowd noise at the beginning plus the fact that I took the needle off just before the end (it's a long version!), led me to query the recording...but on another listen today, on a fine quality stereo system, I can note that the sound quality definitely has that 'live' feel...plus...there's the dead giveaway of a few seconds of crowd noise/applause/cheering at the end.

 So what the hell WAS the intention around this?"

OK...so, a couple of weeks ago I was going through one last box of Regular stuff - all paper goods that I hadn't bothered with previously as it didn't look too interesting, and stuck neatly down the side was this - a second copy. I've been through everything now...completely...so, there's TWO copies of this in existence. 

But that's it. No other known copies exist. 

Comes in its original plain white die-cut paper sleeve, with helpful handwritten info - I'd have to assume it was recorded at The Palais, in Melbourne.

CONDITION:

COVER / RECORD: ( - / EX)...shiny and so close to mint...

LABELS: ( Side One: MINT /  Side Two: MINT )...
