ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This handsome box set – the 4 LPs are unplayed – from Philips (6747 040, Dutch pressings, red/silver label, stereo, thick booklet included) entitled “Mozart / I Musici” features the crack Italian ensemble in a magnificent collection of Mozart Symphonies, Divertimenti, and other works, including “Eine Kleine Nachtmusick” and the Violin Concerto No. 5 K. 219, with soloist Roberto Michelucci. These performances can withstand the most exalted comparison and Philips analog sound is of the very finest quality – warm and vibrant – just like the playing.
Incidentally, the I Musici players are joined by Michael Kühn (oboe), Hans Elshorst (oboe), Jaroslav Kotulan (horn), and Aldo Peter (horn).

Included in this fine set is an impressive full-size 16-page booklet, with textured covers, and containing extensive liner notes by Ekkehart Kroher and several portraits/photos. All texts are provided in French, English, and German.
Incidentally, the box cover art reproduces a detail from a watercolor on Parchment entitled “Festive Night Music, performed by the Collegium musicum of Jena, around 1740” (held at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg).
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the cloth box is EXCELLENT. The only flaws concern a broken lower-right corner (near the spine) of the box top and some minor wear along the spine. However, there are no other corner breaks, nor are there any seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the box remains perfectly solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the 16-page full-size booklet is near-MINT. Really, there are no flaws to speak of and the booklet appears as new. The binding remains perfect, the cover and pages bright and clean, free of bends, creases, or tears.
The condition of the 4 LPs is near-MINT throughout and playback is superb – overall, these rate as truly fine collector's copies.
