Description

Human Instinct ‘Stoned Guitar’ ~ New Zealand prog 1970

LEGENDARY NEW ZEALAND ACID ROCK ALBUM!

The Human Instinct – Stoned Guitar LP (orig. New Zealand STEREO Allied International Records/Pye ARBS 1071970)

Recorded: June 1970.  Release date: 1970.  Running time: 50:40 (approx).

ONE OF THE BEST NEW ZEALAND HEAVY ROCK ALBUMS OF ALL TIME!

EXTREMELY RARE second album by this progressive rock band from AUCKLAND—NEW ZEALAND.  The title track is a superb acid rock instrumental freak-out with over-the-top wah-wah guitar and distortion.  ‘Black Sally’ is a cover version of a track originally recorded by the Aussie pre-KAHVAS JUTE band, MECCA.  There are also covers of ‘Tomorrow’ (John Kongos) and ‘Railway And Gun’ (Rory Gallagher).  The latter track was recorded live at the BO PEEP CLUB in Auckland.  ‘Jugg-A-Jug Song’ and ‘Midnight Sun’ are credited to Jesse Harper, who is in fact Doug Jerebine (ex-THE BREW)!

GRADING

Cover (also refer photos):

front VG(+) some shelf-wear incl. ring-wear & creasing, scuffing along spine & seams; overall appearance is quite acceptable—some of the sheen remains.  A previous owner has touched-up the bottom seam.

back VG+ flip-back cover; some shelf-wear incl. light ring-wear & minor creasing; overall appearance is quite acceptable.  Also includes original Wellington (NZ) record store sticker (top-right).

Record:

VG+ some surface scuffs (most are superficial), few more pronounced scuffs on side two (VG), although music still dominates; clean labels with insignificant spindle wear.

NB: I played the album right through and it sounds great, despite minor surface noise in parts and the occasional pop.  A highly desirable copy, especially considering that most turn up totally trashed!  I have purchased numerous albums graded EX or better from other eBay sellers that look worse than this one, so please bid with confidence.
