Incredible pressing of great 1993 Blues Alley set by South African trumpeter and legend Hugh Masekela. Masekela draws on his roots in South African music with Dollar Brand (Abdullah Ibrahim), Kippie Moeketsi, and other members of the Jazz Epistles as well as bringing in other elements of African music with compositions by Fela Kuti, Miriam Makeba, and Caiphus Semenya as well as jazz and Latin rhythms. Includes a great version of Masekela’s classic and much-sampled “Grazing in the Grass.” A fun and lively album that’s also full of musical history.
