Beautiful unopened copy of this fantastic and mega-rare radio transcription disc of mind-blowing Canadian early electronic music. LeCaine's piece uses sounds from the NRC Data Systems computer processed with tape. Joachim's composition is sourced from an Electronic Music Studios Synthi VCS-3 (a pioneering 1969 British analog synth used by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop in Dr. Who, also by Brian Eno, Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd, Stereolab, Aphex Twin, Klaus Schulze, Depeche Mode, etc.). Pederson's work was made on a unique synthesizer designed by LeCaine. Many of these tracks were realized at the McGill University Electronic Music Studio of which Pederson was director. Highly recommended early electronic obscurity!

Le Caine was a physicist who became an influential early electronic instrument inventor from the late 1940s onward (Sackbut Synthesizer, Touch Sensitive Organ, etc.); he was an important teacher of Pauline Oliveros and was influenced by the work of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales (including Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry, Francois Bayle, and Luc Ferrari). Coulombe Saint-Marcoux was a trailblazing Canadian avant garde composer who was among the first women (along with Pauline Oliveros, Bebe Baron, Daphne Oram, and Pril Smiley) to experiment with electronic music; she was influenced by Iannis Xenakis, who brought her to work at the legendary INA-GRM studios in Paris in 1968, where she studied electroacoustics with musique concrete composers Pierre Schaeffer, Gilbert Amy, Jean-Pierre Guezec, Francois Bayle, Guy Reibel, and Henri Chiarucci. She would go on to form electroacoustic ensembles with Otto Joachim, Gilles Tremblay, and Jacques Lejeune.
