Description
The Hour Glass 'Hour Glass'.Original 1968 UK blue Liberty label stereo press LP.
The Hour Glass was formed from the ashes of two disbanded rival groups that had played the same US southern circuit, The Allman Joys (the Allman Brothers Greg & Duane, then based in Florida) and the Men-its (based in Alabama), the group was booked in early 1967 into a month-long engagement in St Louis where they met members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, whose manager arranged a contract with Liberty. This is their second LP (called The Power Of Love in the US) and the only one released in the UK in 1968. With the very earliest A//1 B//1 matrices & 1-1-2/1-1-2 mother stampers of the very first 1968 issue!
The Mac Neill Press fully laminated sleeve is intact & in EX+ condition, with only some light corner bumping and some very light laminate storage wear on the cover. The spine is still intact and fully readable, the company inner is intact & in EX condition. The record is in visually EX+ condition, with only a one or two faint & wispy sleeve removal hairlines visible under bright light on each side. The labels are in EX+ condition, clean & bright with no evidence of spindle markings. Overall the record still retains all its original sheen and looks great. The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some very brief background noise during the run in grooves, overall, a really great, loud & clear listen. The matrix nos. are; LBS-83129, A//1-420 mother stamper 1-1-2, B//1-420 mother stamper 1-1-2. This is one of the very earliest 1st pressings of the original 1968 UK stereo 1st issue of this album!
