Description
This is Blue Note Records BST 84131, Horace Silver Silver's Serenade, a blue and white, New York USA label, original* stereo issue of this classic record with Van Gelder and the ear(p) mark stamped in the dead wax. The record is in a strong VG+ condition showing light marks on both sides but playing with only occasional light clicks or pops under the music; hence the (+). The glossy cover, with it's 43 West 61st St., New York 23 address, has 4" of clear tape on the bottom seam and some repair work on the top seam and is otherwise intact. The labels are excellent with light spindle marks. The record was played on a Linn Sondek LP12 and cleaned on a VPI 17. This is still an excellent collector's grade copy of this beautiful original Blue Note recording. Please check our other listings as we discount shipping for multiple wins. Thanks for looking.
* There are versions of this title with a deep groove on side 2. It is the opinion of many people (Fred Cohen on page 77 and myself included) that after BLP 4060, when Plastylite bought new centers without the deep groove, that the absence or presence of a deep groove, when all other markers are present, does not indicate an original (or second) issue. Of course you are free to make up your own mind.
