Description
What It Is:
This is the Horace Silver Quintet's 6 Pieces of Silver album.
The good news: this is an original Blue Note pressing, released in 1956, with deep groove, RVG initials, (Plastylite) ear, and the Lexington Avenue address on both sides. The jacket also shows the Lexington Avenue address.
The bad news: this album has been well used: it shows many spindle marks and some scratches (some of which are audible). It plays with surface noise, and minor-to-modest groove distortion in the last songs on either side. The jacket is in pretty good shape, a little dirty (esp. on back), and seams starting to split (1/4" top, 1" bottom at opening), but no writing or marks.
Having said all that, I just played the record and it was still quite enjoyable -- before the last songs on either side the tonality and general sound quality comes through the surface noise, and the last songs are still listenable.
Tracks are: Side 1- Cool Eyes
- Shirl
- Camouflage
- Enchantment
- Senor Blues
- Virgo
- For Heaven's Sake

Condition:
Jacket: VG: modest ring wear, a little dirty (esp. on back), and seams starting to split (1/4" top, 1" bottom at opening), but no writing or marksRecord: VG/VG-/G+: many spindle marks and some scratches (some of which are audible). It plays with surface noise, and minor-to-modest groove distortion in the last songs on either side. I've added the "G+" grade to address the worse of the groove distortion in the last songs on either side -- the VG/VG- grade covers surface noise elsewhere, which varies across the record (it's probably VG+ in places).
Grading standards:
All items are visually graded, and if they've been play graded that will be noted. I follow Goldmine grading standards. My grading is conservative, at least as good as I would expect from anyone that I would buy from.Payment:
I accept PayPal. If you must return the item, it must be in the same condition that I sent it, but I will refund your full purchase price and return shipping cost within the USA (outside of the USA, I'll refund the bid price, but you must pay for return shipping unless I've made a serious error, in which case I'll pay shipping too) -- I guarantee your satisfaction.Shipping cost and Insurance:
Within the USA: I ship via the US Postal Service, priority and media mail. Costs are based on the shipping weight and package size. Please contact me for shipping to other locations. As always, if your winning bid is above $50, I will pay for insurance within the USA.Outside of the USA: I'm willing to ship outside of the USA, cost based on the winner's address and size and weight of the package. I usually insist on airmail for reasonable delivery time and better handling. I state the shipping size and weight in the ad so that you'll have an idea of cost, though final determination of shipping cost will occur when the auction completes. Unfortunately I can't offer free insurance as it often gets quite expensive for overseas shipment, however, I strongly advise that you select insurance as I cannot be responsible for delivery in another country.
