Description
This auction is for a UK original 7" pressing of the four-track EP Only The Blind Can See In The Dark by Hoax, released on Hologram Records (Hoax 1, 1980). It features Oh Darling, We All Hate Myself, Take It Easy and Storm Trooper.
Part of an extraordinary, one-off sale, the record was acquired during a purchase of ex-shop stock which has lain in secure storage for approximately 30 years! The vinyl and sleeve are graded in at least EX to NM condition, and we think it was either an unplayed or shop-played copy.
From the same source we are also selling hundreds of punk, post-punk, industrial, heavy rock/metal/prog/pop 45s and LPs including many multiple copies of rare and collectable items by the Sex Pistols, T Rex, The Damned, The Fall, Television, Tubeway Army, other Joy Division and Factory releases, UK Subs, the Dickies, Devo, UFO, David Bowie, ELO, Roy Harper, Elvis Costello, John Lennon, Frank Zappa, Mike Oldfield, The Only Ones, Jonathan Richman, Cliff Richard, Elvis Presley and many rare one-off punk, post punk, indie, industrial, NWOBHM singles, etc, plus a handful of reggae/soul items.
The records include coloured vinyls, picture discs, promos, demos, pic sleeves, etc. They were original stocks in an independent record shop mini-chain in the North West of England which specialised in alternative and heavy rock in the mid-late 70s and into the 80s before the shop's closure in the early 1980s. These records were kept in warm, dry storage until we acquired them at Christmas.
The records are mostly mint unplayed and with mint or near-mint covers (on some items there may be some occasional light fading/light ringwear/light creasing, shop price stickers, etc: as an overview, we can state that the items all have the unmistakable feel of what we would characterise as good, honest stock.
