HICKORY WIND – Same, Gigantic 1104 (US), 1969
Once in a lifetime you find albums in your collection you had (almost) forgotten and to some mysterious reasons you never gave them a listen – they are still sealed since the day you purchased them.
I cannot recall when I ran into this one. It must have been in the early ‘70s.
In the meantime it has become one of the rarest fuzzy psych acid rockers on earth with jangly folk rock and blues elements thrown in. According to my knowledge the musicians hailed from Indiana and they were some kind of pre B.F. Trike outfit.
Literature says only 100 copies were pressed and this one is still sealed!!
The shrink has opened a bit at the bottom (as you can see on the photo), but that’s neglectable. The little ring wear and darkened parts (dust) that you may see on the photo are on the seal and not on the album!
The likelihood to find another copy of this psychedelic masterpiece in sealed condition is so small that I’m tempted to say: archive it as a prosperous investment.
