Description
One of my two cherished Heron albums from the 1970’s, the double album “Twice as Nice and Half the Price”.
The group were formed in 1968 by Roy Apps and Tony Pook and along with Steve Jones and Gerald T Moore recorded this their second album. Heron are a folk-based band with tinges of pop and soul.
This is a U.K. pressing in 1971 on the Pye subsidiary label Dawn (DNLS 3025) stereo. There are a total of 21 tracks (see photos for track listing)
This has been sitting in the plastic sleeve since I bought it, played very occasionally, but as some of you will know, there are some of us who used to record our albums and listen to them off cassette tapes.
The album is hence in excellent condition. When I bought the album I am afraid I replaced the original inner sleeves with better quality poly lined versions, as shown in the photos.
The labels are completely clean, just a few shiny lines from the turntable centre pin (which looks worse on the photos, especially zoomed). The records are perfectly flat and free from any warps of any description.
The matrix numbers are DNLS 3025 A (side one), DNLS 3025 B (side two), DNLS 3025 C (side three), DNLS 3025 D (side four).
Included with this album is a postcard insert, printed with the postmark of Black Dog, and depicts the tracks and personnel involved in the recording (see photos of both sides of the postcard).
The picture cover, unusually laminated on one side, is in excellent condition as seen in the photos. No sellotape reinforcement. Although a double album it is not a gatefold. The text on the spine is clearly visible as shown.
Overall an excellent example of what is apparently a highly collectable 40 year old record and cover.
If you understand this album, you will understand the reserve, which if not met means I get to keep it.
The item will be double boxed for safe shipping, the albums removed from the cover and packed in a separate inner box for added protection. Postage will be via Royal Mail Special Delivery for greater security
You are welcome to collect and pay cash on collection if you prefer. (Nr Winchester, or Westminster on specific dates).
Good luck with your bidding and thank you for viewing.
Note:
I may ship overseas but only via Airmail International Signed-For at buyers cost, so please check that this shipping method can reach you before bidding. I reserve the right not to ship overseas if I have any doubts about security of delivery. Any import taxes etc are the buyers additional responsibility.
