John Peel's Record Box

Around the first anniversary of his death, a wooden box was found containing 142 singles that the late DJ kept close to him. Of the 142, there were 12 duplicates & so over the past 18 months I've been trying to track down the remaining 130, partly for the enjoyment of it but mostly because much of the music I listen to today was a direct result of hearing them for the first time on his nightly radio show. I was sure that I'd discover even more hidden gems & I was right.

I've found 86 so far - however I now don't have the time to search out the remaining records & so offer these for sale so that someone else can perhaps take up the challenge!

I'm now listing the rarest / most interesting one's & the remaining ones I'll list as 2 or 3 job lots next week according to broad music genre.

Killer Aussie new-wavers. This is the most collectable version with a hand-stamped die-cut sleeve. Great B-Side too (Dead Budgies)..

• The Users - Sick Of You. Raw 1977. - MINT / MINT

Designed to sound like a Stooges Raw Power outtake, the record label itself was initially started as a one-off project for this release.

• The Freshmen - You Never Heard Anything Like It. Release 1979. - VG.

Late release from an Irish 'showband', who were expected to cover all styles - this was their attempt at New Wave - brilliant & hilarious.

Disc & Sleeve / packaging ratings as follows:

Mint - Record & sleeve in brand new condition with no marks

Excellent - Record shows some signs of having been played with minor marks, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. Cover & packaging might have slight wear &/or creasing

Very Good - Record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks. Normal wear & tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects.

I won't sell anything below Very Good unless clearly stated.
