*** The Kings of Rebetika ***
Great and very rare original approx: 1940 Greek Odeon by two truly iconic Rebetika masters Markos Vamvakaris and Stratos (Markos is solo on the flip).
Stratos Payioumidzis started to sing professionally in the late 1920s and his first recordings appeared in 1933. In 1934, together with Yiorgos Batis, Anestis Delias and Markos Vamvakaris, he founded the rebetiko quartet, I Tetras I Xakousti Tou Peiraios (Greek: ? ?????? ? ???????? ??? ????????, literally Piraeus' famous quartet). Pagioumtzis recorded over 400 songs.
Rare and heavy stuff that hardly turns up for sale. Great player!!!
