Going up for auction is the rarest set of Harry Partch records you'll probably ever see, including another ultra rare, original accompanying document!
This is a 5-disc, 78 rpm (note, 78 rpm) set of records entitled "Partch Compositions" released in an edition of 150 back in 1951 on the Los Angeles "Radio Recorders" label.
This was the first release of Partch's collection of pieces titled "Eleven Intrusions", as well as including the second version of his piece "Dark Brother". Also included is Partch talking about his instruments and music, the pieces on the records, and recording of a Minuet by Krieger.
Although some of these pieces have been released on CD, some have not.

For the most part, the records look really good for being nearly 70 years old, I don't think they have been played much. I don't have a player to play 78 rpm discs so I cannot test, and am only going on visuals. I've tried to take the best photos I can. I'm not a collector or vinyl dealer so I'm going with what I can see.
These are historic museum pieces really.
The condition exceptions I can mention are Side no.2 ("Discourse and Sample Passages, Minuet (Krieger)", very minimal visible scratches, check photo),
Side no.7 - "Lover", "Soldiers", more visible scratches, again check photo
and Side no.10 - Dark Brother Part 2 - very visible scratches.
Included are the original disc sleeves (not in great shape, but hey they're almost 70 years old!) for all five discs. I have put the discs in brand new archival sleeves for their protection, as well as cardboard outer sleeves, but will include the original paper sleeves of course (shown in photos too)
Also included is a perhaps even rarer item, a typed copy of the original 2-page leaflet that was posted out with the discs when they were sold on mail order. Typescript is dated 26 November 1951. This is also not in the best shape, but again, pretty much unobtainable!
