"Steppin' Out!"
Original thick vinyl pressing, from 1963 on Blue Note Records, catalog #ST-84138, stereo. Blue Note New York USA on label, the little "ear" and "VAN GELDER" stamped in the dead wax. Made in USA. Has a paste on back cover and a small pricetag in the top right corner on the back "Thule Base Exchange", which is in the north of Greenland! This Lp was bought at the Thule Base Exchange sometime around 1964. It has a price of $2.40 new!
The vinyl is near mint, very little noticeable surface noise, a very light hint of static behind the music, a fantastic sounding pressing!.The laminated front cover is in beautiful condition, the back paste-on has some very light water marking along the top (see pics). The spine and seams are fine, no wear or splits.

This soul-jazz outing by tenor saxophonist Harold Vick (his recording debut as a leader) casts him in a role that was often occupied by Stanley Turrentine. Vick, with a quintet that also includes trumpeter Blue Mitchell, guitarist Grant Green, organist John Patton, and drummer Ben Dixon, performs four blues, a slightly trickier original (five of the six songs are his), plus the ballad "Laura". There are no real surprises, but no disappointments either on what would be Harold Vick's only chance to lead a Blue Note date. At 27 he was already a fine player. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
