Description
We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer.
A 1960 1st Press Mono of Hank Mobley - Soul Station, Blue Note 4031. RVG is stamped in the Deadwax and the "P" or "Ear" symbol ( see photos). Degritter cleaned, the vinyl is spotlessly clean with a good lustre & numerous trace hairlines, scuffs and marks but no feelable damage. It sits flat on the turntable with clean labels and spindle holes - Graded VG visually but plays VG+
Playtested on a Rega Naia turntable fitted with an Aphelion 2 cartridge and Rega Aura Phonostage.
It plays through with typical RVG vibrant sound with immediacy and presence. Some low intermittent noise that does not spoil the enjoyment. No jumping or sticking - it plays through as it should.
The outer sleeve is sturdy and solid with laminate peel just starting to the opening & a 10cm split to the bottom seam. The printed rear is clear with age discolouration, some light foxing & a small brown stain. Lovely readable spine. The original Chappell & Co.Ltd London import stamps are present. Graded VG
Original BN printed inner sleeve present - we have decanted the record into a new poly lined inner to preserve it - you will receive both.
The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits.
