Hüsker Dü was an American rock band formed in Saint Paul, Minnesota in 1979. The band's continual members were guitarist/vocalist Bob Mould, bassist Greg Norton, and drummer/vocalist Grant Hart.  Hüsker Dü first gained notability as a hardcore punk band, then crossed over into alternative rock. Mould and Hart split the songwriting and singing duties.

"Hüsker Dü at the 9:30 Club in DC in 1983 was the first time I saw them live.  They were incredible -- especially how they never stopped playing -- just song after song with a wall of feedback in between.  Bob's Flying V guitar...  Bass players crazy mustache...  Their barefoot drummer dripping sweat...  They were already post-punk and ahead of their time..."
