HUMAN INSTINCT “Burning Up Years” NEAR MINT LP RARE NZ HEAVY PROG BLUES ROCK
Human Instinct – “Burning Up Years” LP (orig. New Zealand Marble Arch STEREO ZMALS 103, gatefold cover)
Release date: June 1970. Recording dates: 1969 (side 2) / 1970 (side 1).
On offer here is an ULTRA RARE original NEW ZEALAND issue of the debut album by HUMAN INSTINCT. “Burning Up Years” was recorded in 1969 and 1970 with MAURICE GREER (drums & lead vocals), lead guitarist BILLY TK (a musician often touted as the M?ori JIMI HENDRIX) and two different bass guitarists, PETER BARTON and LARRY WAIDE.
Most of the album tracks are cover versions including ASHTON, GARDNER and DYKE’s “Maiden Voyage”, THE KINKS’ “You Really Got Me”, NEIL YOUNG’s “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere” (listed as “I Think I’ll Go Back Home”) and HARD MEAT’s “Burning Up Years”. I’ve included YouTube links to the opening two LP cuts below. Enjoy!
