Slovenian artists based in Cleveland, Ohio, their name is most commonly seen in its Anglicized form, Hoyer Trio.
Matija Arko (Matt Hoyer) and his two half-brothers, Frank Simon?i? and Ed Simon?i?, formed an instrumental trio. Frank played banjo (an instrument used by jazz bands) and Ed played chromatic accordion and guitar. Arko used his Slovenian house-name Hojer; the Simon?i? brothers Anglicized their name to Simms. Calling themselves the Hoyer Trio, they became very popular as they travelled throughout the Midwest playing polka music. They were affiliated with Anton Mervar and were recommended to the Victor label by him. Their first recordings were made acoustically at the November 1924 session in Cleveland. From 1924 until 1929 they made recordings for all three of the major labels—Columbia, Victor, and Okeh. In addition to their own, they accompanied Chicago’s "Adria" Singers on some of their recordings. In all, they released 100 selections. By 1930, the musician’s union was beginning to show its influence in the recording industry. Unwilling to join, Hoyer made no more recordings. Nevertheless, he continued to perform, with different sidemen, into the 1950’s. Besides being musicians, the Simms brothers were professional boxers and Eddie was an actor as well. He had small parts in several motion pictures, usually portraying a boxer or gangster.

Method of Shipping:  If the package is light enough to make economic sense, first class postage will be offered.  Delivery time is not very much longer than priority mail.  If the package is a pound or more, your options will be parcel post and Priority Mail…or if you’re Really in a Hurry….Expre$$ mail.

Packaging:  We use, or fabricate, external boxes for all games, puzzles, etc. to protect them as much as we can from the excesses of the USPS.  If other boxes are used, they will be sized as close as possible.  Both methods are to keep the weight to an absolute minimum and thus the postage costs.

Returns:  Buyer is to pay postage BOTH ways unless we have made a mistake in description or other misleading oversights.  Most of our items come from various sources such as consignment shops, estate sales, garage sales, etc.  While our home is non smoking, we don’t know the history of the previous owners.  If it’s noticeably smoky or musty, it won’t be offered. 

IF A REFUND IS NECESSARY, IN MOST CASES, PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT EBAY – SEND ME A MESSAGE.  If there is a problem, I will quickly issue you a refund but on an inexpensive item I do not want Ebay to automatically send you a shipping label that I have to pay for.  An item of $5 or less is better kept, tossed, or donated as I don’t want to pay return postage to then toss it away here at home.
