Incredibly rare 1930s King Novelty Company catalog, 6 by 8, 48 pages very good condition. This is the catalog that has all the spells, potions, hoodoo roots and other superstition items mentioned in the classic Chicago blues records. (Muddy Waters lists many of these in his Hootchie Kootchie Man record). Every page lavishly illustrated, much like the rare Paramount Blues Record catalog. Cover is detached, insides complete, sturdy and undamaged. Even has the order blanks!!! King Novelty Co was a black owned mail order business located on the South Side of Chicago, in "Bronzeville" or The Black Belt (see luckymojo dot com for more details and pix - great site!).....Items include goofer dust, hot foot powdere, Mojo Roots, High John The COnqueror Root, Devils Shoe String, "Essence of Bend Over", Black Cat candles, The Great GoBo numbers incense, five finger grass, lodestone powder in the red flannel bag, oils, potions, perfumes, love secrets, policy (numbers racket) charms and lucky books by Aunt Sally, Black Herman the magaician, Old Aunt Dinah etc........RARE especially in this condition - try to find another one!!
